A conductor and 11 players set up to rehearse a piece on their laptops. Luciano Berio’s wasserklavier (1965), excerpt of 6 encores pour piano, has been pre-recorded, re-arranged and the midi data is used to play it back through the laptop ensemble.
The players have to timely keep the timbre of their instruments the same by participating on a game assigned by the conductor: they have to type specific keys on their keyboard sent as instructions.
If they fail in their task the timbre of their laptop changes but the sound of failure is sweet.
